US Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is relatively new to politics, and is discovering a lot of new things as she settles into Washington, DC- including garbage disposals.

AOC recently posted a series of videos to Instagram, explaining that she was confused by and unsure of what the loud “monster” in her sink was.

“OK everyone I need your help because I just moved into this apartment a few months ago and I just flipped a switch and it made that noise and it scared the daylights out of me,” she said. ““I am told this is a garbage disposal. I’ve never seen a garbage disposal. I never had one in any place I’ve ever lived.”

After a while, she began wondering if it was environmentally friendly, and asked if having one is a sign of “upward mobility.”

According to the New York Post, she did manage to resist temptations to stick her hand down into the sink.

“All you people telling me to reach in and grab whatever’s there are just Republicans trying to test my health insurance,” she wrote. “I’m onto you.”
