Alyssa Milano draws critics after tweet saying ‘a mask will protect you more than an AR-15 will’

As one administration begins to give way to a new one, politicians, media and celebrities have begun highlighting a desire for more firearms restrictions while continuing a strict enforcement of divisive pandemic policies such as mask wearing.

On the front lines of this effort is Alyssa Milano, who recently caught flak from the public for attempting to compare cloth face coverings and AR-15 rifles.

“Anti-maskers are the same people who think they need an AR-15 for ‘protection,'” the aging actress tweeted on Tuesday. “LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK: A MASK WILL PROTECT YOU MORE THAN AN AR-15 WILL.”

Although Milano restricted replies to those who she follows and/or who agrees with her, this didn’t stop critics from re-tweeting her statement with replies.

“I guess you can strangle bad guys with your mask,” wrote David A. Sanders. “But what if I put a mask on an AR-15? Does it protect me more or protect me less?”

Others took more down-the-middle approaches.

“Uh, they could theoretically both protect you against different things,” Replied @MollyRatty. “Is there a reason you think these two things are mutually exclusive? Or related in any logical way at all?”

Others just pointed out that this is nothing new for Milano, who also happened to come down with the coronavirus.

“She’s never been in the same room with logic, much less been acquainted with it,” one user replied.

Milano is well-known for her anti-gun stances, and has frequently drawn criticism for her less-than-thought out statements.
