Former New York Mayor Rudi Giuliani is having to fight a PR battle following the pending release of the new Borat sequel, after he was put in an awkward position with a Bulgarian actress posing as a minor.
Giuliani, who is currently serving as President Donald Trump’s attorney and is leading the way on the pending investigation into the Biden family, was ambushed by actor Sacha Baron Cohen in July, who was posing as his signature Borat character.
Cohen, an outspoken critic of Trump, has reportedly featured several conservatives in his “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm” sequel, and Giuliani is no exception.
While the incident took place during the summer, it has recently come up again, possibly in response to the files found on Hunter Biden’s laptop that may lead to criminal charges.
The actress in Cohen’s employ was Maria Bakalova, a 24-year-old film school graduate and supporter of the BLM movement.
Posing as a conservative reporter, Bakalova invited Giuliani into a hotel bedroom to assist in taking off recording equipment and partaking in a drink after an interview.
Giuliani helped Bakalova remove her microphone, stating “Here you go, my dear.”
At one point during the removal of his own microphone, Giuliani’s shirt becomes untucked, and his actions of tucking the shirt back- creating a screenshot-posting opportunity that could not be ignored by former Conservative Matt Drudge.
Eventually, “Borat” burst into the room, claiming Bakalova was his teenage daughter.
In a review by New York Post writer Johnny Oleksinski, it is insinuated that the reaction to the scene is overblown.
“The moments that will have people talking are when Borat sneaks into CPAC 2020 during Pence’s speech, carrying Tutar over his shoulder, and is escorted out by security, and a later scene in which his daughter interviews Giuliani in Manhattan,” he wrote. “That part claims to show the former mayor in a compromising position in bed with Tutar, but after rewatching it 10 times, it looks to me like an exaggeration through editing. Funny, though.”
In reports with the New York Post and on his own Twitter Giuliani stated that as soon as the actress playing “Tutar” asked him if he wanted a massage, he knew he was being set up.
“As soon as I realized it was a set up I called the police,” he wrote.
“At no time before, during, or after the interview was I ever inappropriate,” he added. “If Sacha Baron Cohen implies otherwise he is a stone-cold liar.”
Now playing PR catch-up from something that happened months ago Giuliani also noted that the move was likely to be in response to the Biden laptop scandal.
“This is an effort to blunt my relentless exposure of the criminality and depravity of Joe Biden and his entire family,” he wrote. “Deadline Hollywood reports CAA had a distribution screening in September where there was no mention of the scene holding any importance. We are preparing much bigger dumps off of the hard drive from hell, of which Joe Biden will be unable to defend or hide from. I have the receipts.”
