A Georgia family has released security camera footage that shows caretakers beating their mentally-disabled family member for no reason, shedding light on just how much of a crap shoot “putting someone in a home” can be.

The video footage shows 55-year-old Joey Carson, a “severely mentally disabled” man being savagely beaten by three different caretakers, who use belts and fists to knock him to the floor.

Given that Carson is white and the three caretakers are black, it is unknown if the 2013 attacks were part of a racially motivated hate crime.

According to WTHR, the lawsuit that the 2013 footage is part of is still an ongoing affair, but the family released the video in order to raise awareness of the kind of abuse that takes place in similar facilities.

Total Care, the business involved in the incident, had its license revoked after an investigation. Carson was relocated to a different home, and is reportedly in good condition.
