CNN reporter says Taliban “seem friendly” despite chanting “death to America”

CNN has managed to outdo their previous “mostly peaceful protest” line of 2020, with one reporter claiming the Taliban “seem friendly” while they chanted “death to America” and ordered her to stand aside due to her gender.

In yet another public relations blow to the once-credible mega-network, CNN reporter Clarissa Ward was spotted weaing a burqa as she walked amongst the Taliban forces retaking Aghanistan, having been allowed to expose her hair mere days before.

Surrounded by fighters in Kabul, she noted the atmosphere was “friendly.”

“They’re just chanting death to America, but they seem friendly at the same time,” she said. “It’s utterly bizzare.”

Needless to say, the statement -and the fact that she now had to cover her hair due to Taliban presence- inspired memes that compared the scene to the 2020 Kenosha riots, when CNN correspondent Omar Jimenez was seen in a story captioned, “fiery but mostly peaceful protests.”

A certain social media platform and “independent fact checkers” quickly cracked down on the clearly-photoshopped memes, though it is unlikely anyone would have confused them for fact.

Ward was also criticized by Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), who felt her statement was absurd.

“Is there an enemy of America for whom CNN WON’T cheerlead? (In mandatory burkas, no less),” he tweeted.

According to the Daily Mail, Ward was predictably defended by her fellow journalists, including Former New York Times Opinion Editor Bari Weiss.

“This is about the decline of American power, influence and will,” Weiss wrote. “Not press bias.”

Ward was also asked by Taliban fighters to stand aside because she is a woman, and was told that women will be allowed to continue life as long as they cover their faces.
