Congresswoman writing gun legislation lies to reporters, also proves she is completely clueless about them

A Texas Democrat currently sitting in the US House of Representatives is pushing for gun control, despite having absolutely no idea what she’s talking about.

Rep. Shelia Jackson Lee recently spoke during an event to get the House to “flood” the Senate, claiming that the AR-15 is a heavy weapon that fires .50 caliber ammunition.

“I’ve held an AR-15 in my hand, I wish I hadn’t,” she told media. “It is as heavy as 10 boxes that you might be moving and the bullet that is utilized, a .50 caliber, these kinds of bullets, need to be licensed and do not need to be on the street.”

In reality, however, the AR-15 weighs less than seven pounds, and fires a 5.56mm projectile, hardly the size of a .50 caliber round.

In addition to somehow confusing an M2 Heavy Machine Gun for an AR15, Lee cited several skewed polls that claimed stake to America’s desire for strict gun control.

According to the Daily Beast, Jackson Lee has also claimed that there are two Vietnams, that the Constitution is over 400 years old and that Apollo 11 went to Mars instead of the Moon.

In once incident, Lee caused a stir aboard a Continental Airlines flight when she demanded a “seafood meal,” despite the fact that no such meal was included.

“Don’t you know who I am?” she asked, “I’m Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee. Where is my seafood meal? I know it was ordered!”

Lee has somehow managed to hold her Central Houston District seat since 1995.
