A country music singer has come under fire for using a racial slur towards black people.
Morgan Wallen is in hot water after he was filmed saying “n***er” in a leaked video, prompting a formal apology.
“I’m embarrassed and sorry,” Wallen, 27, said in a statement. “I used an unacceptable and inappropriate racial slur that I wish I could take back. There are no excuses to use this type of language, ever. I want to sincerely apologize for using the word. I promise to do better.”
According to FOX News, TMZ is responsible for leaking the clip after Wallen’s neighbor sent it in.
The footage was filmed outside of Wallen’s home, when he and several friends reportedly returned to the residence after a night on the town.
Wallen used the slur to refer to one of his friends.
In the past, leaked footage of Wallen misbehaving resulted in him being pulled from a slot on “Saturday Night Live.”
“I respect the show’s decision because I know that I put them in jeopardy,” Wallen said at the time. “I take ownership of this. I’d like to apologize to ‘SNL,’ to my fans, to my team for bringing me these opportunities and I let them down.”
