A writer for The Daily Beast is reportedly demanding that a “secret police” force be set up to identify, capture and detain supporters of former President Donald J. Trump.

In an article -which was titled “Can US Spy Agencies Stop White Terror?”- written by Jeff Stein, the January 6th Capitol protest (and subsequent storming of the Capitol Building by a breakaway group of protesters) was brought up as justification for such authoritarian measures.

“Last week, America’s security agencies were again caught flat footed when another kind of militant wave, this time pro-Trump fanatics, stormed and trashed the citadel of American democracy, nearly executing what al-Qaeda had failed to do, destroy the US Capitol,” Stein wrote.

Stein compared the attack to 9/11, a complex terror plot that killed nearly three thousand people.

Evidently outraged by the incident, Stein called for what can only be imagined to be the US equivalent to the Russian NKVD.

“One response to the 9/11 tragedy may well get renewed attention after the Capitol assault—especially if armed white nationalists are successful in carrying out more attacks in the coming days and weeks: The call for a secret police,” he wrote.

The article’s twitter blurb was pretty cut-and-dry, as well.

“Other countries have domestic spy agencies to fight extremists at home. Does America need one, too?”
