Florida woman arrested for throwing dog off motel balcony

A woman was arrested by deputies in Florida’s Volusia County after she tossed a German Shepherd from a hotel balcony.

The incident, which took place on Monday at a motel in Daytona Beach, involved 35-year-old Allison Murphy, who was the subject of a suicide threat call.

When the VSCO and Daytona Beach PD responded with body cameras rolling, Murphy threw a German Shepherd over the railing, prompting deputies to tackle the woman and bring her to the ground with Taser to back.

“No!” shouted one lawman as he recoiled in horror.

“What are you doing!?” the other snarled, bringing Murphy to the ground.

Murphy resisted, but ultimately was subdued. She was arrested on felony charges of animal cruelty and resisting an officer with violence.

The German Shepherd, nicknamed “Miracle” byt Volusia County Animal Services, was taken to a local vet and is in county custody.

Miracle suffered no major injuries, save a a sewing needle was lodged in her right thigh that had to be surgically removed.

According to the VCSO, “a petition for custody over Miracle will be scheduled with the courts in the following weeks,” though many are likely hoping that petition will be denied.
