Ice cream truck owner tired of ‘influencers’ looking for a handout, now charging them double

Joe Nicchi, promoting his new anti-influencer policy.

It’s a common complaint. Hotels, restaurants, and even food trucks get asked for free rooms, meals and other handouts from people who think thy have some clout, in exchange for a positive post on social media about their business.

Basically some idiot who posts half-naked pictures of themselves to social media and has a 50,000 followers (which isn’t many) asks for a freebie in exchange for a semi-promotional post about a company. And if the establishment, or in this particular case, a soft-serve ice cream truck doesn’t accommodate them, they’ll even threaten to post something negative.

Well, this ice cream truck owner is fighting back, and now charging self-proclaimed ‘influencers’ double.

Joe Nicchi, owner of the popular Los Angeles CVT Soft Serve posted this to their Instagram page: “We’ve decided to make this thing official with signage. We truly don’t care if you’re an Influencer, or how many followers you have. We will never give you a free ice cream in exchange for a post on your social media page. It’s literally a $4 item…well now it’s $8 for you. #InfluencersAreGross”

The post has now gone viral, resonating with the masses and other business owners who are tired of people who think they deserve special privilege.

We agree. And can’t congratulate this small business owner enough.
