Chinese citizens in coronavirus-affected cities are literally “falling out,” collapsing in the streets as the disease takes hold.
Videos leaked from cities such as Wuhan are showing the effects of the SARS-like respiratory disease, which has killed nearly 30 people and infected at least 800.
Markings on the ambulance seen in one video indicates that the vehicle belongs to the Suzhou Emergency Center, located in Hubei.
One recurring theme in each clip: people are seemingly unable to remain standing and conscious, and many appear to be completely unresponsive.
The clips were taken from a variety of locations, including shopping centers, banks and even a gym.
Personnel in white protective suits are frequently also seen in the videos, taking the ill people away.
According to the Daily Mail, the cities of Ezhou, Huanggang, Chibi, Qianjiang, Zhijiang, Jingmen and Xiantao have been placed on lockdown.
The US State Department has urged Americans to exercise caution if travelling to China, and major airports have begun screening passengers after the first case of the virus was found stateside near Seattle, Washington.
So far, patients have been confirmed in Japan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam and the US. Nearly all fatalities have been older men with pre-existing conditions.
The Wuhan coronavirus is believed to have been transferred to humans from illegally traded wildlife at a seafood market, with some experts suggesting the virus was passed to humans from snakes, bats or wolf cubs.
