Man viciously beats woman in an unprovoked attack in Miami

The Miami transit system has long been known for being a less-than-safe way to get around town, but new captured video of a violent attack on the Metromover has driven the point to the forefront.

The attack, which was captured by the Miami-Dade Transit, took place on September 4 and lasted for nearly a full minute as the train moved along its night route.

The victim, Andrea Puerta, was suddenly attacked by a man who had just boarded the seemingly empty train car, slamming her against the wall and leaving her badly bruised.

Puerta’s friend, Erika Marquez, told WSVN that they “don’t feel safe in the area anymore.”

The attacker, Joshua James King, was arrested not long after and charged with two counts of felony battery and one misdemeanor battery charge.

Marquez noted that Puerta is still traumatized by the unprovoked attack.

“Now she’s scared of everything, like taking the Metromover, being by herself,” she said.

King, who weighs about 210 pounds, had attacked two other people on the same day.

He has since posted bail and his next court hearing is scheduled for September 25.
