Montana man arrested for tearing down Ten Commandments monument

A Montana man was arrested after he removed a Ten Commandments monument on Saturday, using a chain and pickup truck.

The Columbia Falls resident -identified as Anthony Weimer- reportedly wrapped a chain around the monument and toppled it as witnesses notified 911.

The monument was on Flathead County Courthouse grounds, and Kalispell Police were dispatched to the scene immediately.

According to NBC Montana, Weimer had already left the scene when police arrived, but he was eventually tracked down and arrested.

KPD claims that they don’t know why Weimer would do such a thing, and it is unknown why the 30-year-old suspect chose the Ten Commandments.

Weimer faces a felony criminal mischief charge.
