Mother of veteran killed by police on Jan. 6th is arrested for jaywalking at daughter’s memorial

The mother of Ashli Babbit, who was killed inside the capitol building on Jan. 6th, appears to have been arrested during a memorial for her daughter in Washington D.C.

Video footage of shows Babbit’s mother, Micki Witthoeft, being detained by police officers.

“You’re not obeying the traffic law, you move to the sidewalk or you’ll be placed under arrest,” one officer in the video can be heard telling a group of people.

“Sidewalk now or you’re under arrest. It’s that simple we’re not discussing it the sidewalk or you’ll be placed under arrest,” an officer says.

While being handcuffed, bystanders can be heard protesting Witthoeft’s alleged arrest.

One bystander can be heard questioning the reason for her arrest and claiming officers “murdered” her daughter.

Babbitt, an Air Force veteran, was the only person killed during what has been referred to as the “insurrection” when an officer who shot her in the chest at close range.
