A grand jury in Texas has indicted Netflix over a lewd film involving young children.
The film in question is “Cuties,” a provocative French film that places excessive sexual focus on prepubescent girls.
The Tyler County grand jury cited state law in their decision.
According to Fox News, the complaint states Netflix “knowingly” promoted media which “depicts the lewd exhibition of the genitals or pubic area of a clothed or partially clothed child who was younger than 18 years of age at the time the visual material was created, which appeals to the prurient interest in sex, and has no serious, literary, artistic, political, or scientific value.”
Netflix and some mainstream media sources have denied such claims, insisting that “Cuties” is little more than “a powerful story about the pressure young girls face on social media and from society more generally growing up.”
“This charge is without merit and we stand by the film,” a Netflix spokesperson said.
