The program of NYC Mayor Bill DeBlasio’s wife is having trouble explaining where $850 million in mental health program funds have gone, and the lack of sufficient record-keeping is astounding.
ThriveNYC is currently on track to spend over $1 billion in a five-year period, despite being unable to account for millions of dollars.
Thrive NYC is a project championed by DeBlasio’s wife, Chirlane McCray, who believes that the cause will improve the mental health of New Yorkers.
According to the Daily Mail, data compiled from a Politico report showed the staggeringly bad results, which are plagued with poor record-keeping practices and failure to properly measure the impact of the operation.
In one case, 190,000 Narcan kits were given to hospitals that were known for opioid abuse, but no data exists on how many have been used.
In another example, 29 hospitals agreed to screen 78,000 new mothers for post-natal depression, but only screened 28,000 or so over a two year period, offering help to only 570.
No stranger to failure, DeBlasio announced that he is officially mothballing his failed Renewal school program after spending $773 million in funds on the project.
