Rioting broke out during the inauguration of President Joe Biden, with hundreds flooding the streets of a major metropolitan area, trashing a political party headquarters, injuring a police officer, smashing windows and flipping over an occupied car.
While Washington, DC, was completely locked down in such a way that it resembled a Demilitarized Zone (complete with tens of thousands of troops), Far-left extremists tied to Antifa seemingly had the run of the town in Portland, Oregon on Wednesday.
Taking to the streets at around 2 PM local time, the extremists staged their own West Coast “insurrection” as they expressed their disdain for the man many of the activists had likely cast ballots for.
In typical fashion, Portland Police had a relatively lackluster response, politely urging people to leave via Twitter.
“To those gathered near the Democratic Party of Oregon Portland Headquarters: Members of this group have been observed damaging the building,” the block of tweets began. “Anyone who is involved in criminal behavior including: vandalism and graffittiing is subject to arrest or citation.Criminal conduct may subject you to the use of force, including, but not limited to, crowd control agents and impact weapons. Stop damaging the Democratic Party of Oregon Portland Headquarters.”
According to the Washington Examiner, many journalists on the scene managed to document the incident and posted clips to social media.
“The Democratic Party Of Oregon building was vandalized moments go by an Antifa group in Portland Oregon,” the Daily Caller’s Jorge Ventura tweeted. “The group gathered at Revolution Hall and blocked roads off as they made their way towards the building.”
Meanwhile, journalist Andy Ngo -who recently made the news for a book he had authored on the topic of the Antifa movement- posted videos of Antifa members attacking a police officer and flipping over an occupied car.
“A police officer was surrounded by a mob of #antifa as he tried to confiscate their weapons,” he tweeted.
Ngo left commentary on the tactics of Antifa, including how they have adapted to prevent from being identified.
“They bring weapons while their comrades use umbrellas to block surveillance video,” he tweeted.
Many of the rioters were clad in all-black, with some sporting airsoft-grade plate carriers and ballistic helmets.
