A Utah feminist may be forced to register as a sex offender after her stepkids reported her work walking around the house without a bra or shirt on.
Tilli Buchanan requested a judge dismiss the misdemeanor lewdness charges on Tuesday, and urged the government to strike down laws against showing breasts.
“If we lose this, she’s on the sex offender registry with child rapists and things of that nature,” Buchanan’s attorney Randy Richards told the outlet. “The magnitude of the penalty on this is enormous.”
Buchanan reportedly stripped down to her breasts while hanging drywall, something her stepkids did not want to see.
According to the New York Post, when the stepkids asked her about it, she told them that she considers herself a feminist and that everyone should be able to walk around the house or elsewhere without a top.
Buchanan was also allegedly drunk at the time of the incident and reportedly refused to put her top back on unless her husband showed his penis.
Buchanan faces 10 years on the sex offender registry -as well as some jail time- if she loses the case.
The Utah chapter of the ACLU has come to the stepmother’s defense.
