Southwest Airlines flight hits and kills a man during landing


An unidentified person was hit and killed by a Southwest Airlines airplane Thursday night at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

The incident occurred around 8:20 pm.

A spokesperson for the Austin Police Department said the person killed did not have ID and was not dressed as an airport worker, according to CBS Austin.

The FAA said the pilot of flight 1392 reported seeing a person on the runway after the Boeing 737 touched down at the airport.

The pilot reportedly tried to maneuver to avoid hitting the person.

The Federal Aviation Administration said the pilot of Flight 1392 reported seeing a person on the runway shortly after the Boeing 737 touched down at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport at 8:12 p.m. local time.

The carrier said the pilot maneuvered to try to avoid the person, whose identify wasn’t immediately released.
