Teacher who molested teen boy has sentence reduced

An Aussie PE teacher who molested a teenage boy is walking free from prison after she got an 18-month sentence reduction.

Katie Smith, who claims she simply “wanted to be told she was pretty” when asked why she had a series of inappropriate encounters with a male student, was let out early on appeal.

Smith was jailed in 2020 after exchanging sexual images, inappropriately touching and engaging in sexual acts with the young boy.

The Phys Ed teacher reportedly got a little clingy, bombarding the lad with explicit photos a mere week after they hooked up on Snapchat.

The New South Wales resident also blamed the schoolboy for inciting the affair, despite threatening him with legal action if he told the authorities.

According to The Daily Mail, Smith was arrested and charged with grooming a child for unlawful sexual activity, indecent assault of a person under 16, and intentionally sexually touching a child between 10 and 16.

She served less than a year-and-a-half behind bars.
