Two Republic Airlines employees were arrested and fired after they were caught fighting each other at Denver International Airport.
The security footage shows a male pilot advancing on a female co-worker and attempting to spit in her face. The female employee then slapped the pilot in the face, who responded with a flurry of punches to the head and abdomen.
According to ABC News, the incident took place on September 14, and the Denver Police quickly got involved.
The two employees, William Thomas and Marisha Sporer, had previously been in an intimate relationship, but quickly turned on each other when Sporer saw something upsetting on Thomas’ phone.
“They both agreed to break up so Thomas went onto the plane and sat in the cockpit and Sporer went to the gate,” a probable cause affidavit read. “Sporer became angry and went onto the plane to confront Thomas. Sporer grabbed Thomas by the necktie and slapped him in the face with an open hand three times. Thomas retaliated by grabbing Sporer and striking her in the ribs with a closed fist.”
Both individuals will be in court next week, and have since been sacked by Republic.
“We are aware of a situation that occurred last month involving two of our employees,” a Republic Airlines spokesperson said. “We investigated this matter and took appropriate action consistent with our belief that such behavior is unacceptable.”
