A Texas woman named Christian is accused of fracturing her mother’s skull with a crucifix.

San Antonian Christian Lydia Martinez, 25, was arrested Sunday when she allegedly got into an argument with her mother following a day of drinking, then took a “bulky, wooden” cross measuring 10-inches long off the wall and bashed the 46-year-old victim over the head with it, repeatedly.

Martinez fled the scene and was apprehended later the same day and charged with felony assault, according to Bexar County officials. She was held on $30,000 bond. Her mother was hospitalized.

CBS News reported that Martinez appeared to use a cross to bludgeon her mom because it was convenient, not symbolic.
